Creative Recovery

Creative Recovery Initiative

We offer peer recovery groups co-facilitated by a Together Place CIPSS and a community member with expertise relevant to the group’s theme such as creative writing, painting or vocational skill-building.

Below artists and authors share about their experience at Together Place with our Creative Recovery Initiative.

Supported by Research

Studies show that creative writing, painting and singing can increase a person’s confidence and empower people to stay in recovery.

Recovery through Art

Creative expression has been found to be valuable in providing people in recovery with a comfortable way to discuss difficult issues, relieve stress, and find common ground with their peers, supporting their long-term recovery success.

Expressive Healing

Creative expression sustains and supports recovery but rarely has creative expression been used in the United States as a formalized recovery approach.
